Thank you for choosing Book Quote Scanner (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how ULADZISLAU ZINCHANKA (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use the App, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Definitions

App: Book Quote Scanner mobile application.
Personal Data: Information that identifies you (e.g. email).
Usage Data: Automatically collected info (e.g. device model, OS version, app screens visited, time stamps).
History Data: Words, definitions, quotes, synonyms and group names you save locally (AsyncStorage).
Feature Requests: Messages you submit via the “Feature Request” form, stored in Firebase Firestore.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Voluntary Data

Your email if you submit feedback via email link.
Feature request messages you type and submit (stored in Firestore).

2.2 Automatically Collected

Usage & Analytics (Mixpanel, Firebase Analytics): app sessions, button taps, events (no PII).
Crash Reports (Firebase Crashlytics): error logs, stack traces.
Device Info: model, OS version, unique device identifiers.
OCR Processing: images you capture or pick are converted to base64 and sent to Google Vision API; only the scanned image content is processed and not stored by us.
AI Requests: text prompts (the word you look up and follow-up chat) are sent to OpenAI; only prompt text is sent.

3. How We Use Your Data

Provide the core features (OCR, definitions, chat).
Save and display your saved words and quotes locally in History.
Store feature requests in Firestore for review and product planning.
Improve and secure the App via analytics and crash reporting.
Send optional updates or promotions if you’ve opted in.

5. Local Storage

History Data (words, definitions, synonyms, groups) is stored on your device via AsyncStorage and never sent to our servers unless you explicitly submit it via “Feature Request.”

6. Data Retention

We retain feature requests in Firestore until you request deletion. Usage, crash, and analytics data are retained according to each service’s policy.

7. Your Rights

GDPR/EU: Access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, data portability.
CCPA/CA: Know, delete, opt-out of sale (no sale of PII).

8. Security

We use HTTPS/TLS for all network requests. We follow best practices but cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If discovered, it will be deleted.

We may update this Policy. Major changes will be notified in-App or via email.
